Electrical Test Engineer

  • Perform testing and commissioning at power plant or substations from one lines, three lines and  DC schematics

  • Perform testing/routine maintenance of relaying (electro-mechanical, solid state and micro-processor).

  • Perform testing of power line carrier

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of substation relaying and control equipment

  • Write procedures, test plans and/or switching

  • Plan, schedule, and complete test activities efficiently, safely and without service interruptions

  • Associate of Electrical Engineering Technology or the equivalent specialized training in system protection

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

  • Hiring all levels of work experience 

    • Pay rates are based on work experience

  • Be familiar with 3 phase relay test sets (Doble, Omicron)

  • Results-oriented; capable of scheduling and completing testing with minimum supervision

  • Understand and follow applicable clearance procedures and safety practices

  • Quickly learn and apply test procedure for various types of substation equipment

  • Self-motivated

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills

  • Exercises good communication, organizational and time management skills

  • Ability and willingness to work out of town

  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
