GTC - Douglas 230/115/46KV Substation

Project changed out 2 - 230/115KV banks, 1 - 115/46KV bank, 12 - 230KV circuit breakers, 8 - 115KV circuit breakers, 2 - capacitor banks, all associated protective relaying and cabling.


  • All work done in stages leaving parts of substation energized necessitating on site engineering to install temporary cabling to keep all vital protection in service.
  • All protective relaying changed from electro-mechanical to micro-processor based.
  • Set and tested micro-processor based protective relaying.

Project added a 500KV feed to an existing 230KV 4 position ring bus.  Added 500/230KV bank and 500KV ABB breaker and a 230KV breaker.
